Meet Savanna

At only 14 months old, Savanna has spent much of her life in the hospital. Soon after her premature birth, Savanna was diagnosed with pyloric stenosis, a condition that required stomach surgery. A few months later, she underwent open heart surgery to repair a congenital heart defect. While recovering, Savanna developed a serious respiratory virus that was treated successfully, thanks to UVA Children’s Hospital’s unique heart-lung breathing machine. Today, Savanna is doing well, exploring her world as a happy, healthy toddler.
